Lucoral Gemstone Museum
A hidden gem in the heart of Waikiki, the Lucoral Museum is a privately owned museum displaying the many precious materials that get made into beautiful jewelry. Coral, fossils (including fossilized amber and even a dinosaur egg), pearls, sculptures, and a wide variety of gemstones are all on display. Displays are cleverly shown as fossil caverns or coral grottos, all of which prevents the experience from feeling like walking through a gift shop.

Admission to the Lucoral Museum is free, and suggested donations are available for guided tours, usually provided for school field trips of local students. A self-guided tour can last anywhere from thirty minutes to an hour, and might be of interest for admirers of jewelry and young enthusiastic gemologists or geologists. Families may enjoy making their own jewelry to give as presents or to keep as mementos of their stay in Hawaii. The Lucoral Museum has a bracelet-making activity where innovative jewelry designers can make one-of-kind pieces featuring semi-precious stones like amber, quartz and lapis for a $2 donation to cover the cost of materials.

The museum located on 2414 Kuhio Ave in Honolulu, and is open Monday through Friday from 9am-5:30pm. Additional questions or requests for guided tours can be made by calling 808.922.1999
