Pali Golf Course
Another solid 18-hole course in the family of the Honolulu municipal golf courses, Pali is a scenic hillside course close to downtown Honolulu. Seven miles from downtown Honolulu and only a half hour drive from the Waikiki area, Pali is a step up in the level of difficulty from Ewa Villages and Ala Wai golf courses, with a par of 72. Nestled in the foothills of the Koolau mountain range, the Pali Golf Course provides scenic views of the mountains as well as Kaneohe Bay. These foothills average a higher rainfall, than much of the coastal municipal golf courses, resulting in a naturally watered course often much greener than West Loch or Ala Wai.
With relatively few sand traps for the length of the course, much of the difficulty here lies in the rolling hills and sloping terrain of both greens and fairways. An enjoyable course complete with beautiful views designed for the golfer who enjoys an afternoon appreciating the scenery, Pali can be frustrating for beginners looking for straightforward shots on clearly marked fairways.
Visitors without golf IDs (obtainable only by residents of Hawaii) can expect to pay $23 for a twilight/9-hole round, and $46 for an 18-hole round. Prices are the same regardless of weekday, weekend or holiday visits. Non-residents may call up to three days in advance for reservations, from 6:30am until closing. The course is open seven days a week, from 6am to 6pm. The Starter’s Office can be reached at 808.266.7612. Complete with a pro shop open daily from 7am-5pm, the Pali golf course the restaurant and snack bar are open from 6am to 6pm daily to accommodate that desire for a quick bite after a late round.
The municipal golf courses use an automated reservation system, and can be used by dialing 808.296.2000.
