Scuba Diving in Oahu
The calm and clear blue waters with great visibility make Oahu an ideal destination for travelers looking for scuba diving opportunities. The Hawaiian Islands are home to many species of tropical fish and other aquatic sea life that cannot be found anywhere else in the world. In addition to amazing variety in sea life, Oahu waters are also the sunken shipwreck capital of the region. Exploring shipwrecks is an amazing way to explore history and oceanography simultaneously. Novics and beginners that have never been introduced to a regulator can easily find introductory dives or lessons resulting in scuba certification.

Although shore dives in Waikiki are generally, the outlying waters are treasure chest of sunken ships and airplanes, many of them from World War II. Hanauma Bay is a much better choice for shore dives, and what the calm waters lack in general visibility they more than compensate for with huge tropical fish populations.

There are numerous companies offering lessons, certification and guided tour dives around the water of Oahu. At smaller beaches and towns there is likely to be a vendor offering to rent scuba gear.
