The Contemporary Museum is the only museum in Hawaii exclusively dedicated to showing contemporary art and helping to foster and interest in modern art Opened to the public in 1988 with a growing collection of art developed in all media, The Contemporary Museum features artists who have produced work no earlier than 1940.

The Museum sponsors teaching and educational workshops for visitors and local residents. The Museum and Museum Shop is closed Mondays, but is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10am-4pm, and Sunday from 12pm-4pm. The Café is also closed on Mondays, but is open Tuesday-Saturday from 11:30am-2:30pm, and Sunday from 12pm-2:30pm. To schedule reservations for museum tours, call 808.523.3362.
