Haleiwa Beach Park
Distinctive for its light brown and sandy beach, the long and wide stretch of Haleiwa Beach Park is perfectly situated and just a quick walk from the beautiful and historic Haleiwa Town. The close proximity makes it easy to grab some food from one of the many nearby restaurants and eateries and enjoy a beautiful afternoon at the park. Picnic areas provide great views with ample shade nearby, and large grassy lawns are perfect for small picnics and large soccer games alike. If the evening air is a bit chilly, you can even catch a beautiful sunset view from your car in the nearby parking lots.

A large sea wall prevents large waves from really hitting this particular beach, and so the main beach is great for beginner to intermediate swimmers in the summer. The relatively gentle waves are also a favorite of stand-up paddle boarders. This beach park is also great for those not inclined to jump in the water. With two volleyball courts and two full-length basketball courts, Haleiwa offers enjoyment for those with a more competitive, spirited nature. The little harbor inlet nearby offers jet-ski rentals, and the beach opposite is a world-famous surf competition location.

Haleiwa Ali’i Beach hosts a number of surf competitions including the American Surfing Professionals (ASP) Women’s Events in the Triple Crown. While summer waves are relatively gentle, the waves in winter on the North Shore are a completely different story. Although averaging from five to ten feet here in Haleiwa, swells have been known to reach over thirty feet in height! This is a major destination for surfers or for those who love to watch skilled wave riders tackle some of the island’s biggest waves. If you happen to be staying in Hawaii during one of these competitions, it is an amazing experience to observe and highly recommended.
