Maui Hiking Guide
Maui has a number of great hiking trails in a variety of environments around the island. Many of these hiking trails are easy and provide amazing views of natural wonders. Below is a short list of the easy and moderate hiking trails you may enjoy exploring.

Haleakala Ridge Trail
This trail starts above Polipoli Springs State Park on the skyline switchback at 6,550 feet elevation and meanders down the southwest rift of Haleakala past Plum Trail junction to the lower forest reserve. Much of this trail is not forested and there are many spectacular views in all directions.

Leleiwi Overlook
Located inside Haleakala National Park, the elevation of this point is 8,800 feet. Cross the road on foot and take the short trail to the overlook for a panoramic view of the vast crater of Haleakala. You’ll notice that the view from here is incredibly barren, resembling the moon in many ways. In fact, NASA has used this area for just that purpose. The astronauts that landed on the moon trained at Haleakala National Park. This crater is so massive that the entire island of Manhattan could fit inside its rim.

Pipiwai Trail
The Pipiwai Trail rises above the Ohe`o Gulch, itself a beautiful destination and home to the Seven Sacred Pools. This is one of the best hikes on Maui. Pipiwai Trail is 4 miles long roundtrip. There are several great waterfalls along the route with the final destination fall being Waimoku Falls, falling 400-feet down a sheer lava rock wall.
