Movie Location Guide Oahu
Oahu is a favorite location shoot for Hollywood, with a wide diversity of exotic tropical forests, lush valleys, beautiful beaches and seascapes, and even downtown Honolulu attractions.

A number of movies used either the broad, open valleys of Kualoa or the dense rainforests of its interior. Movies featuring Kualoa include 50 First Dates, Godzilla, Jurassic Park, Pearl Harbor, Tears of the Sun, and Windtalkers. A favorite landscape for television shows, Kualoa has also been used for the international television hit Lost, both Hawaii Five-O productions, and Magnum P.I.

Ehukai Beach was utilized to accurately portray Pipeline, a surfing mecca featured in the movie Blue Crush.

Hanauma Bay was used to film Blue Hawaii, also set in Hanauma Bay. Donovan’s Reef was also filmed in Hanauma.

Honolulu was featured in movies, but is probably most famous for scenes from Hawaii Five-O, Lost and the movie Pearl Harbor.

Whether your interest includes just visiting these filming locations, or extends to amateur scene recreations and video homages, finding movie and television locations set in or filmed in Oahu is a great way to connect the movies theaters and the silver screen to a rugged and tropical island getaway. There are more than a few tours focusing on bringing fans of film and television to these movie locations.
