North Shore Guide
The North Shore of Oahu is not just the surfing capital of the world, but a beautiful landscape in complete contrast to the southern shores of Oahu. Filled with gorgeous beaches, inland treasures, and must-see waterfalls, the North Shore is an essential part of any trip to Oahu. These are just a few of the many amazing things to see and do on the North Shore.

Haleiwa Ali’i Beach hosts a number of surf competitions including the American Surfing Professionals (ASP) Women’s Events in the Triple Crown. While summer waves are relatively gentle, the waves in winter on the North Shore are a completely different story. Although averaging from five to ten feet here in Haleiwa, swells have been known to reach over thirty feet in height!

Kualoa Ranch is a humongous working cattle ranch that provides a huge number of activities including ATV tours, horseback rides and hiking trails.

Sunset Beach a favorite among surfers during the winter months, and one of three homes of the world famous Triple Crown Surfing Contest since 1983, along with Waimea Bay and the Ehukai Beach. Ehukai Beach is home to the Banzai Pipeline. If you’re looking to catch a glimpse of the professionals strut their stuff across some amazing waves, bring binoculars: the waves here break farther offshore.

Waimea has it all, and is an amazing beach to visit year round. If you’re lucky enough to visit Hawaii in the summer, the Waimea Bay Beach Park is an ideal calm and placid spot with white sandy beaches, perfect for picnics and amateur snorkeling and swimming. If you find yourself fortunate enough to see this same beach in winter, you will stand awestruck at walls of surf towering twenty to forty feet high, conquered by only the most courageous and intrepid surfers. No matter the season, this famous beach is a must-see destination.
