Pu’u Ualaka’a State Wayside Park
Although perhaps a little bit out of the way, the view from Pu’u Ualaka’a State Wayside Park is without a doubt the best way to view Honolulu and Diamond Head. Located off the Round Top Drive accessible from Makiki Street, this forested state park is situated on a cinder cone close to downtown Honolulu. The view not only includes Honolulu and Manoa Valley, but also extends to Diamond Head and Pearl Harbor.

Facilities for the park include drinking water, picnic shelters, restrooms, and a scenic lookout. This is a great place to have a picnic and simply absorb the stunning views of the city, letting you relax in peace away from the frenetic pace of Honolulu. The park free to the public and is open during daylight hours, from 7am-7:45pm between April 1 and Labor Day and after Labor Day to March 31 from 7am to 6:45pm.
